Amazon OpenSearch Serverless now available in AWS Europe (Spain) Region

We are excited to announce that Amazon OpenSearch Serverless is expanding availability to the Amazon OpenSearch Serverless to Europe (Spain) Region. OpenSearch Serverless is a serverless deployment option for Amazon OpenSearch Service that makes it simple to run search and analytics workloads without the complexities of infrastructure management. OpenSearch Serverless’ compute capacity used for data ingestion, search, and query is measured in OpenSearch Compute Units (OCUs). To control costs, customers can configure maximum number of OCUs per account.

Amazon SES announces Vade advanced email security Add On for Mail Manager

Today, Amazon SES announces the availability of the Vade Add On for Mail Manager, a sophisticated content filter that enhances email security for both incoming and outgoing messages. This new Add On, developed in collaboration with HornetSecurity, combines heuristics, behavioral analysis, and machine learning to provide robust protection against evolving communication threats such as spam, phishing attempts, and malware.

Now available as a rule property in Mail Manager, the Vade Add On empowers users with automated, real-time defense against email-based threats for safer communication. Its AI-powered technology employs a multi-layered approach, analyzing messages in real-time using advanced techniques like natural language processing. This integration allows customers to strengthen their email platforms by configuring ongoing protection against evolving cyber threats alongside existing Mail Manager rules, offering flexibility in managing their email security.

The Vade Add On for Amazon SES Mail Manager is available in the following AWS Regions: US East (N. La IA en el trabajo: hablemos de las estrategias de precios de la IA

Cómo gastar con sabiduría en tiempos de incertidumbre.

Cuando su empresa invierte en IA, puede ser difícil medir el retorno de la inversión. ¿Qué casos de uso generarán más valor? ¿Cómo medirán el retorno de la inversión? Con estas grandes preguntas que se avecinan, es comprensible que los líderes se sientan inseguros a la hora de responder a una de las preguntas más básicas: ¿cuánto debo gastar?

A la complejidad se suma el hecho de que operamos en un mercado de IA que cambia con rapidez, ya que las innovaciones alteran de manera constante el statu quo y los modelos se convierten en productos básicos. El mes pasado fue DeepSeek, ¿qué nos deparará el mañana? En medio de tanta volatilidad, es natural preguntarse cómo afectará esto al mercado de la IA en general, y a los precios en particular.

Pero aquí está la cuestión: no importa cuán incierto y cambiante sea el entorno, aún necesitan generar valor de su inversión en IA. Así que no se distraigan con factores que no pueden controlar.

En Microsoft, el núcleo de mi trabajo es ayudar a los clientes a obtener el máximo valor de sus inversiones en IA. Como parte de ese esfuerzo, hemos evolucionado nuestro enfoque para fijar los precios de la IA. Creemos que la mejor manera de optimizar la inversión en IA de su organización es centrarse en tres elementos clave:

  • Flexibilidad: Darse la libertad de aprender cómo la IA genera el mayor valor para su organización y de ajustarla en consecuencia.

El precio adecuado

Microsoft lanzó de manera reciente una nueva oferta llamada Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat. Es la forma más sencilla de ilustrar de lo que hablo porque es el precio más sencillo: gratis. Copilot Chat es un chat de IA para nuestros clientes comerciales de Microsoft 365, disponible sin cargo. Funciona con GPT-4o, uno de los modelos convencionales más sofisticados disponibles. 

Traigo esto a colación no para presentarles nuestro producto, sino para mostrar cómo aborda esos elementos clave que toda organización debe tener en cuenta a la hora de invertir en IA.

  • Flexibilidad: Una oferta gratuita ofrece una forma de bajo riesgo para que todos los miembros de una organización aprendan cómo uno de los casos de uso de IA más fundamentales, el chat, puede ayudarles a ser más productivos en su trabajo diario. Las organizaciones pueden ver cómo esas ganancias colectivas de productividad comienzan a generar retorno de la inversión. 
  • Escalabilidad: A medida que los caminos hacia el retorno de la inversión comienzan a aclararse, las organizaciones pueden ver dónde enfocar la inversión adicional en IA.

Los empleados tienen una forma de bajo riesgo de experimentar con los agentes y aprender de lo que son capaces. 
  • Escalabilidad: Un enfoque medido les permite expandirse con rapidez, a medida que el valor se hace evidente. El acceso ya está ahí, y los diferentes equipos pueden responder con agilidad a medida que surgen sus necesidades de IA. 
  • Rentabilidad: Pagan solo por lo que usan.  

La tercera pata del taburete de precios de la IA es tal vez la más familiar: las suscripciones. Pagan una tarifa fija por el acceso ilimitado a la IA. Es simple y directo. Así es como fijamos el precio de Microsoft 365 Copilot. Una vez más, se trata de un enfoque que aborda las tres necesidades básicas de las organizaciones que invierten en IA, en este caso, tal vez las que se encuentran más avanzadas en la curva de adopción de la IA. 

  • Flexibilidad: Con una suscripción de tarifa plana, no tienen que preocuparse por la cantidad de IA que utilizan. El grifo siempre está abierto. 
  • Escalabilidad: En cualquier parte de su organización en la que el retorno de la inversión se haga evidente, sólo tienen que añadir otro asiento.
  • Rentabilidad: los agentes de pago por uso tienen sentido hasta cierto punto, y ese punto es el que gastan más en el uso medido de lo que gastarían en una suscripción. Es fácil ver cuándo han llegado a ese punto de inflexión, y es fácil cambiar a una suscripción de tarifa plana. 

Encontrar su mezcla

La forma en que su organización invierte en IA tal vez depende de qué tan avanzados estén en la curva de adopción de IA, pero para muchas empresas implicará una combinación de estos tres enfoques.

Siempre que una tecnología es nueva, algunas empresas quieren precios de pago por uso. Están emocionados de ponerse en movimiento rápido, pero no quieren un gran compromiso ni mucho riesgo. Por lo general, una vez que comienzan a usarlo y ven el valor, regresan y dicen: «En realidad, ya no quiero precios basados en el consumo. ¿Me darías una tarifa plana en su lugar?» Espero que ocurra lo mismo con la IA.

Hay otro enfoque que ha comenzado a recibir algo de atención. La fijación de precios basada en resultados vincula el costo de los servicios de IA de manera directa con resultados específicos: la tarifa podría basarse, por ejemplo, en la cantidad de conversaciones resueltas en el servicio de atención al cliente. Este enfoque incorpora el retorno de la inversión directo en la estructura de pago. Pero para que funcione, tanto el proveedor como el cliente deben estar alineados a la perfección en lo que constituye los resultados. A medida que se solucionen estos problemas, esperamos que este modelo funcione para algunas aplicaciones. 

En resumen

Muchas cosas suceden en este momento con la IA (y el mundo en general). No dejen que eso los paralice.

El panorama general es que la IA es esencial para el futuro de su empresa, sin importar la industria en la que se encuentren. Cada empleado tendrá un asistente de IA y los agentes transformarán todos los procesos empresariales. En este momento, es esencial que sus empleados exploren e innoven con la IA. Si se centran en la flexibilidad, la escalabilidad y la rentabilidad, pondrán a su organización en la mejor posición para invertir en IA de la forma más eficaz. Les ayudará a desconectar del ruido y a concentrarse en su camino para maximizar el valor de la IA, sin importar el ciclo de noticias.

Announcing AWS Step Functions Workflow Studio for the VS Code IDE

AWS Step Functions Workflow Studio is now available in the AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio Code, enabling you to visually create, edit, and debug state machine workflows directly in your local development environment.

AWS Step Functions is a visual workflow service capable of orchestrating over 14,000+ API actions from over 220 AWS services to build distributed applications and data processing workloads. Workflow Studio is a visual builder that allows you to compose workflows on a canvas, while generating workflow definitions in the background. Workflow Studio for VS Code brings the console experience to the IDE, making it easier to create workflows in your local development environment. The new IDE experience works with infrastructure as code tools and enables you to debug your workflow steps using the TestState API directly within the IDE.

To get started, download the AWS Toolkit for VS Code, or update to the latest version. The AWS Toolkits are open source projects and you can submit issues or feature requests to open source GitHub repos for the Toolkit for VS Code.

Announcing MQTT enabled SiteWise Edge gateways for AWS IoT SiteWise

Today, AWS announces the general availability of MQTT enabled SiteWise Edge gateways for AWS IoT SiteWise. AWS IoT SiteWise is a managed service that makes it easy to collect, store, organize, and analyze data from industrial equipment at scale. With this launch, newly created gateways now include an MQTTv5 broker component that centralizes connectivity between SiteWise Edge and customer built edge components.

Now you can integrate communications between your own edge components and AWS IoT SiteWise Edge using the MQTT protocol in a publish and subscribe topology. This eliminates building point-to-point connections between edge components simplifying the integration of custom logic for edge data flows. You can build components at the edge for data contextualization. You can use your components to enrich equipment telemetry data with data from operations systems (MES, ERP, etc.) required in calculating key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), uptime, and progress against production targets. Through AWS IoT SiteWise Edge, you have native integration of this data for storage and additional use cases in the AWS cloud. You can use your Unified Name Space (UNS), an industrial data normalization and organization pattern, at the edge and extend it with AWS cloud services. The new gateways securely transmit the equiment data streams of your choice to AWS IoT SiteWise, using existing organization, storage, and analytics features of the service with robust store and forward capabilities of SiteWise Edge.

This feature is available in all AWS IoT SiteWise commercial regions.

AWS WAF adds JA4 fingerprinting and aggregation on JA3 and JA4 fingerprints for rate-based rules

AWS WAF now supports JA4 fingerprinting of incoming requests, enabling customers to allow known clients or block requests from malicious clients. Additionally, you can now use both JA4 and JA3 fingerprints as aggregation keys within WAF’s rate-based rules, allowing you to monitor and control request rates based on client fingerprints.

A JA4 TLS client fingerprint contains a 36-character long fingerprint of the TLS Client Hello which is used to initiate a secure connection from clients. The fingerprint can be used to build a database of known good and bad actors to apply when inspecting HTTP requests. These new features enhance your ability to identify and mitigate sophisticated attacks by creating more precise rules based on client behavior patterns. By leveraging both JA4 and JA3 fingerprinting capabilities, you can implement robust protection against automated threats while maintaining legitimate traffic flow to your applications.

JA4 as a match statement is available in all regions where AWS WAF is available for Amazon CloudFront, and Amazon Application Load Balancer (ALB). JA3 and JA4 aggregation keys are available in all regions, except the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions, the China Regions, Asia Pacific (Melbourne), Israel (Tel Aviv) and Asia Pacific (Malaysia). Amazon Q Developer announces a new CLI agent within the command line

Today, Amazon Q Developer announced an enhanced CLI agent within the Amazon Q command line interface (CLI) that allows you to have more dynamic conversations. With this update, Amazon Q Developer can now use the information in your CLI environment to help you read and write files locally, query AWS resources or create code.

You can now ask Q Developer to write code, test it, help debug issues, and Q Developer will iteratively make adjustments based on your feedback and approval. This allows you to efficiently complete tasks, improving and streamlining the development process, without needing to leave your terminal.

The enhanced CLI agent, powered by Anthropic’s most intelligent model to date, Claude 3.7 Sonnet, is available on Amazon Q Developer Free, and Pro tiers and in all AWS regions where Q Developer is available. Learn more.

Amazon EC2 M7a instances are now available in AWS Asia Pacific (Sydney) Region

Starting today, the general-purpose Amazon EC2 M7a instances are now available in AWS Asia Pacific (Sydney) Region. M7a instances, powered by 4th Gen AMD EPYC processors (code-named Genoa) with a maximum frequency of 3.7 GHz, deliver up to 50% higher performance compared to M6a instances.

With this additional region, M7a instances are available in the following AWS Regions: US East (Ohio), US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney, Tokyo), and Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, Spain, Stockholm). These instances can be purchased as Savings Plans, Reserved, On-Demand, and Spot instances. To get started, visit the AWS Management Console, AWS Command Line Interface (CLI), and AWS SDKs.
