Built on the AWS Nitro System, the new R8g database instances introduce 24xlarge and 48xlarge sizes, delivering up to 192 vCPUs, an 8:1 ratio of memory to vCPU with the latest DDR5 memory, up to 50Gbps enhanced networking bandwidth, and up to 40Gbps of bandwidth to Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS).
You can easily launch R8g, R7g, or R7i database instances through the Amazon RDS Management Console or by using the AWS Command Line Interface (CLI). With bare metal instances, you may be able to reduce your commercial database license and support costs by using bare metal instances since they provide full visibility into the number of CPU cores and sockets of the underlying server. Most bare metal instances have 2 sockets while db.m7i.metal-24xl and db.r7i.metal-24xl instances each have a single socket. Qué es RedVDS y por qué es importante
RedVDS es un servicio de suscripción online que forma parte del creciente ecosistema de ciberdelincuencia como servicio, donde los ciberdelincuentes compran y venden servicios y herramientas para lanzar ataques a gran escala. Los ciberdelincuentes utilizan RedVDS para una amplia variedad de actividades, incluidos el envío de correos electrónicos de phishing de alto volumen, el alojamiento de infraestructuras de estafas y la facilitación de esquemas de fraude. En solo un mes, más de 2.600 máquinas virtuales RedVDS distintas enviaron una media de un millón de mensajes de phishing al día solo a clientes de Microsoft. Aunque la mayoría fueron bloqueados o señalados como parte de los 600 millones de ciberataques que Microsoft bloquea al día, el volumen hizo que un pequeño porcentaje pudiera haber conseguido llegar a las bandejas de entrada de los objetivos. Desde septiembre de 2025, los ataques habilitados por RedVDS han provocado la compromisión o el acceso fraudulento de más de 191.000 organizaciones en todo el mundo. Cómo RedVDS permite el fraude
Una de las formas más comunes en que los ataques habilitados por RedVDS resultan en pérdidas financieras es a través del fraude por desvío de pagos, también conocido como compromiso de correo electrónico empresarial, o «BEC» (por sus siglas en inglés). En estos esquemas, los atacantes obtienen acceso no autorizado a cuentas de correo electrónico, monitorizan de manera silenciosa las conversaciones en curso y esperan el momento adecuado, como un pago próximo o una transferencia bancaria. En ese momento, se hacen pasar por una persona de confianza y redirigen fondos, a menudo a través de mover el dinero en cuestión de segundos. RedVDS también se ha utilizado de manera importante para facilitar estafas de desviación de pagos inmobiliarios, una de las formas de fraude cibernético de más rápido crecimiento. En estos casos, los atacantes comprometen las cuentas de agentes inmobiliarios, agentes de depósito en garantía o compañías de títulos y envían correos electrónicos estratégicamente sincronizados con instrucciones de pago fraudulentas diseñadas para desviar fondos de cierre, pagos en depósito en garantía y otras transacciones importantes. Para familias y para el primero en general. Microsoft ha observado que la actividad habilitada por RedVDS afecta a más de 9.000 clientes solo en el sector inmobiliario, con un impacto en especial severo en países como Canadá y Australia.
Y la amenaza va mucho más allá del sector inmobiliario. Las estafas habilitadas por RedVDS han afectado a la construcción, la manufactura, la sanidad, la logística, la educación, los servicios legales y muchos otros sectores, para interrumpir desde las líneas de producción hasta los pacientes.
Una respuesta global a una amenaza global
El cibercrimen hoy en día se basa en infraestructuras compartidas, lo que significa que interrumpir a los atacantes individuales no es suficiente. A través de esta acción coordinada, Microsoft ha interrumpido las operaciones de RedVDS, incluida la incautación de dos dominios que alojan el marketplace y el portal de clientes de RedVDS, además de sentar las bases para identificar a las personas detrás de ellos.
